Biography Elemental: of or concerned with the elements, belonging to, produced by or inhabiting the elements. I live and work in Glastonbury, overlooking the beautiful Somerset Levels. My work in clay is an exploration and celebration of the Earth, we are inextricably linked; we belong to it and cannot survive without it. Nature and man are one, made from the same materials. Working with the elements of earth, air, water and fire, I create unique pieces that often incorporate ammonites, plants or recycled glass ~ nature in all its forms is the constant source of my inspiration. The archetypal symbol of the spiral as seen in ammonites has always resonated with us, drawn us to it, whether or not we understand why. I love the sense of permanence and strength that is created by the body casting techniques that I use, capturing a moment in time whilst our own bodies are transient, ever-changing. The stoneware fired pieces are intended for indoor and outdoor display as they are fully frost proof. Displayed in the garden they can give a striking focal point to an area all year round, the quality of the light and seasons changing the way that they look. My work can be displayed in a number of ways ~ freestanding, wall-mounted, on stands or incorporated into water features. I am happy to accept body casting and sculpture commissions ~ please contact me for further information.
